I haven't posted much lately, mostly because I haven't felt like it and [livejournal.com profile] count_gunthar posts often enough to keep everyone updated on what we're doing.

Work has been insanely busy since after Gulf War -- to the point that I often leave the office just exhausted from the stress. The one bright light in all of this is that my boss is putting me in for a promotion, although it may not happen until the end of this year because it involves a department and budget transfer. I'll just be happy to see if I get that mid-year bonus promised to me. And I should also not forget that I did get a new laptop that doesn't weigh a ton.

Steppes Warlord is this weekend and Gunthar and I are getting ready for it. His Laurel ceremony is during Saturday morning Court and the "recepti-vigil" that he is sharing with Sir Hrafn is Saturday night. I'll be stopping by the liquor store on the way home tonight to pick up necessary items for the House Porto Gargoyle spew and the white sangria. Then it's off to Wal-Mart once G gets home. Woo hoo.

I need a vacation. Seriously.

The problem is, you work during your vacations!

We need to send you off to a secluded resort of some kind where there is NOTHING for you to work at. Well, except relaxing ;)

I totally agree with this. I mentioned how it would be nice to be like normal folk and take a vacation where we actually relax instead of work our tails off.

I keep trying to get her to skip Warlord and us go do something fun, but she insists we have to go for some reason.

We ARE talking about taking a trip maybe in August somewhere if we aren't committed to ANOTHER working vacation. Maybe a drive to Santa Fe or something.

But I think we would both like even just a weekend of lazing around and doing the things we love doing on a weekend. Like hitting Half Price Books, house shopping, loading up on graphic novels and just doing nothing for a day.

That's the problem of mixing an energetic Mouse with an old Hound Dawg.

*lol*
Oh, and the Drive to Santa Fe is loooooooong.
And when you get there, it's just dusty and not much to do.
But then, I'm remembering the town from a teenager's memory. ;)

Regular people vacations are great. John and I take at least one a year, generally between August and the beginning of November.
Of course our favorites are beach vacations. Bahamas, Jamaica, etc.

You being the mountain goat you are, you'd prolly enjoy the hell out of a blue ridge or rocky mountain retreat.

but just remember how cute she is in a bathing suit, so be sure ther eis a jacuzzi! ;) *lol*

Our vacations lately have been to the Pacific Northwest and, although we both really love the place, she is wanting something different.
I'd be happy to just go to the mountains, find a cave and hide.
So we've been kicking around possibilities if I don't win Crown in July of where we'd like to relax.
Air travel is too bloody expensive and Texas is too hot to do much in August.

We had a hot tub at our cabin in the mountains over Christmas. Bathing suits?

dirty old man! I was referring to a public venue where suits are generally the norm ;P

OOH! She'd probably like Maine or something in that region!

I like Maine and New England in general, but at issue also is the cost of airfare and gas.

Maine is one of the places we want to visit. That, and Colonial Williamsburgh.
But all of that will require flying and we will probably be avoiding that.

So if we drive to Colorado or New Mexico or something it will be leisurely and enjoyable. The trip and not the destination kind of thing.

Right now we will just be content to so somewhere and not have to wear funny clothes and actually have people do stuff for us.
