My soon-to-be ex-husband's attorney filed a counterpetition in which he is claiming postdivorce maintenance -- from me. The man makes twice what I do.

hahahahahahahaha

I didn't know you were going through a divorce. Yeah, they suck. Thankfully mine was able to be done without legal types. ;p

It's been going on for two years, and I've been pretty quiet about it up to now. I only *wish* we hadn't needed attorneys.

You're in TX, right? From what I've read of the TX Family Code, the alimony laws there are really, really restrictive.

Cue judge's laughter.

I'm in TX, and the alimony laws are pretty restrictive. I actually meet the basic requirements for alimony, but because I worked during the entirety of our marriage and have continued to do so, and I can support myself, a judge isn't likely to award it to me either. After a brief stint of unemployment (during which time I supported him), he has been gainfully employed for the last 20 years, at at least twice my salary or more at times (it evened up a bit after I went back to school).

Dumb ass.
If anything, the ex makes for amusing reading and girlie-chat at times ;)

*HUGS*

I know it's just irritations for you at this point, and I'll happily egg his house at anytime ;)
(j/k)...kinda ;)

HA!!

My idiot-ex-brother-in-law has been pulling similar stunts. He drew out the divorce for over a year and now his new stripper/wife has convinced him that he shoud try for custody of my nephew to save/make money. This after he never hugged his own son until several months AFTER my sister filed for divorce. (The boy was 4 at the time.)
