Just a short version of the weekend. For everything I left out, see [livejournal.com profile] count_gunthar's post of yesterday.

On Sunday, I bit the bullet and finally ordered the period tent I've been eying for months. We had hoped to pick up a used one when some friends indicated they might be interested in selling, but they changed their minds and decided to keep theirs. So, now I am the proud owner of a 16'x16' Regent pavilion (or I will be once it's made) from Panther Primitives. Not wanting a white tent, I went for the medieval color option but decided against merging our colors because a tent with panels of blue, red, white and purple was going to be a godawful blight on the landscape. The tent will be panels of blue and white alternating both on the walls and on the top with a scallop of red dags around the seam between the walls and the top. The fly will be white without dagging. I'm very excited about this -- Panther assured me that the tent will be finished in time to bring it to Gulf Wars in March.

Speaking of Gulf Wars, lots of preparation and planning going on for that. We plan on camping with the Steppes and Gunthar and I are working out the arrangements for a camp kitchen. We both love to cook and this is something I've been wanting to do. I have a great 10x10 screened tent that will be perfect and between what we have for kitchen gear and what some of our friends will bring, we should have a really nice set up.

One of the cats got sick over the weekend -- wouldn't eat, wouldn't drink, didn't use the litterbox and slept a lot -- and I spent yesterday morning at the vet while they tried to figure out what was wrong with her. Turned out, she had gastroenteritis, so they gave her an injection for nausea, hydrated her and did some blood work that came out mostly normal (except for the low white blood cell count due to her virus). Cats are hydrated subcutaneously (under the skin) and it was rather amusing when the fluid moved down into her legs as the day wore on. She eventually absorbed it all, but Allie had thunder thighs yesterday afternoon! My little baby is feeling much better and I feel much better, too.

BTW, WoW's Burning Crusade rocks (when the server isn't shutting down because of all the newbies)! I love my Blood Elf!

:D
