Slip Slidin' Away

The ride into work this morning was a bit of an adventure. We had an ice storm last night, which left everything coated with about a quarter or half inch of ice. After debating it a bit, I decided to go in at my usual time, before most of the idiots who don't know how to drive on ice hit the road. I only slipped twice and made it in fairly easily. It helped that TXDOT sanded the entire Tollway.

I'll bet the school districts feel kind of stupid that they closed for the entire day. Areas that get full sun appear to just be wet at this point but could be dry by noon.

I made it in on time as well. I only encountered 2 crazy people on my in, largely everyone was driving very responsibly. Oddly, the only bad patches I encountered were within a few blocks of the office.

However, for my efforts to arrive on time, Karma rewarded with me with one of The World's Greatest Parking Spaces downstairs.

John was going to leave at normal time for work today, too. However, he was thwarted by the fact that he couldn't even get his key in the key hole of th car to get it open. On top of that, the door was literally iced shut in about 1/3" of ice! *lol*

He didn't actually get to leave for work until after 11:30 or so. Hehehehe

You should see the ice sculptures in our back yard ;) Most impressive is the one coming out of the gutter drain from the sunroom!

I had to shuffle-walk from the stairwell out to the car, but managed not to fall on my ass. Backing out of the downhill parking space onto the ice was the first place the car slid a bit. The complex parking area was the worst part of the entire trip!
