Sitting here at work, totally unmotivated despite the large amount of paper sitting in front of me. Leaving for Pennsic on Friday afternoon and my mind is already on vacation. Or actually on all of the packing I need to finish before we load the trailer tomorrow night. I'm excited, a little apprehensive about a week of "roughing it", and enduring the moans and groans of friends who can't go this year (yes, that means you [livejournal.com profile] count_gunthar!)

The food collegium over the weekend was fun, in spite of a minor emergency involving one of the scheduled teachers that resulted in a change in the schedule and my move from "attendee" to "presenter". All in all, it was educational and then I enjoyed a nice dinner with Gunthar.

Went to IKEA on Sunday with Philip and Elin. My God, that place is friggin' huge! I was exhausted after following the trail that wound around both floors. Really liked the bedding section -- must go back for a second look.

It was exciting, fun, overwhelming and exhausting all at once! I met a lot of nice people, received largess from a group of ladies I walked past one evening just because they liked my garb, danced my feet off and enjoyed my nice, new rope bed. I've been meaning to post an update, but both my personal life and work schedule have been a little hectic the last week and a half. BTW, the irish dress you made for me worked wonders one day when it was very warm! Thanks for checking in on me! ;-)

WOW! That all sounds fabulous! :)

No problem - I just realized we hadn't heard from you since before you left, and I wanted to make sure you wern't stuck on the side of the road in Iowa, or something. ;)

You say that in jest, but little do you realize we actually RAN OUT OF GAS just south of Nashville at 3:30am. I woke up (sleeping to prepare to take over the next driving shift) to hear Craig go "Oh, crap" and the Rodeo started to buck. Luck was on our side though -- we managed to coast down the hill to an exit and only had to walk 200 yards to a gas station. Other than that mini-fiasco, the trip up and back was quite smooth, even if we were towing a 5X8 trailer.

Oh no! I'm glad you were able to find a gas station so close - that could have been a disaster!!
