Gulf Wars Recap

Okay, we're back home and I appear to be out of the coma I was in beginning Sunday afternoon. Stuff is back in the garage and we're slowly working our way through the massive pile of dirty laundry. Life without imminent deadlines is good.

A few brief thoughts about the week:

- Space for the baronial encampment was an issue this year, not because of our allotments but because of the shape of the space we were given and a few tent sizes. It was a tight fit. [livejournal.com profile] lady_katheryn and I had some discussions with the Baroness of Elfsea and we have some ideas about next year that will make it better for both groups.

- I think I fed about 120 people, only a dozen of which were actually on our food plan. There will be changes next year so that [livejournal.com profile] count_gunthar and I only have to cook one night. With Gunthar's fighting schedule and Command meetings, I could not have done everything without the most invaluable help of Lady Viviana and Baroness Katheryn. Yes, [livejournal.com profile] shonao, you deserve credit too for your yummy burritos!

- Gunthar's speech to me just before his Champion's Battle made me cry (and not in a bad way).

- My new wooden mirror box rocks!

- The folks from An Tir were a lot of fun. And big, scary Duke Kane is a big teddy bear.

I met my goal this year and managed to remain well during the War. My goal next year? Not to work so hard and have more play time. Despite the work schedule, I really did have a good time at Gulf War.

Edit: *smacks forehead* How could I forget Hrafn's field knighting?! It was incredibly moving and after we kept Elisabeta from collapsing on the ground and shoved her into the circle, Rix and I stood arm-in-arm and tried not to cry. It's going to be one fun party at Warlord!

I think I contributed as much as possible by mostly staying out of the way, and trying to bat clean-up where I could!

Getting you to sit still is near impossible, so I can't imagine what your idea of free/play time at GW next year means...

Glad the coma wore off ;)
