Merry Christmas to all...
Dec. 22nd, 2007 06:45 pmIn about 16 hours, Gunthar and I will be boarding the plane for the first leg of our flight to Seattle. From there, we drive about two hours through the mountains to Leavenworth, where our little cabin in the woods awaits. I am so excited about this trip I can hardly stand it.
Without my laptop, which was stolen several months ago, we will be incommunicado for the next five days. I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas.
I know mine will be...

Date: 2007-12-23 03:23 am (UTC)A word of warning about the drive to Leavenworth -- it may be just fine, but there's also a pretty decent chance that there will be a fair amount of snow falling by the time you get up there. I assume that you'll be renting a car -- ask about chains and/or snow tires. Chances are they'll say you can't use chains and that their tires will be fine. If that's the case, don't argue, but on your way out of Seattle (No further out than Monroe, on the way up into Stevens Pass, stop someplace and get some chains. A number of places such as Les Schwab Tires may have deals where you buy chains and then return them for full (or most of the) price if you don't use them. But be prepared for it, because depending on the weather, the State Patrol may not let you past a certain point without chains. (They were doing it on Snoqualmie Pass (I-90) earlier today, and if the conditions are bad, they may do it on Stevens Pass (where Leavenworth is) as well.
Happy Birthday!!
