Of Tea and Scones
Feb. 19th, 2007 10:05 amVery early last week, Gunthar announced that he had a surprise planned on Sunday, insisting that this was not because of Valentine's Day but only because we actually had a free weekend. All I was told was that it was at 2:00pm and I needed to wear something nice. I spent all last week trying very hard not to think about it too much and spoil his surprise by being the freaky psychic chick he says I am. I waited until Sunday morning to do that to him.
On Sunday afternoon, Gunthar took me downtown to the Adolphus Hotel for high tea. He knows I love things like this and had never been to one himself. It was lovely. We sat in a glass ceilinged room of paneled wood walls, decorated with overstuffed furniture and huge tapestries, and ate finger sandwiches, scones, pastries and truffles while drinking three different types of tea throughout the servings. It was very frou-frou and I loved it, and Gunthar is the sweetest man on earth for planning this all on his own. Just for me.
I have the bestest guy ever. ;)
