Summing it up, Pennsic XXXVI was a "meh" event this year. As [livejournal.com profile] count_gunthar outlined in his recent posts, the week was just one long train of minor annoyances. Nothing horrible happened (excluding almost getting crushed between the car and the trailer the first night we were there), but nothing absolutely fantastic happened either. It was just -- meh.

The rain and resulting mire did not enhance my overall experience. By the time we left on Friday, a day earlier than we planned, I was thoroughly sick of the damp which permeated everything -- clothes, bedding, my hair, etc. With the exception of my really nice garb, which I didn't wear because of the yuck, everything has to be laundered. And I mean everything -- all of the bedding, including mattress covers and quilts, towels, garb, modern clothes, table coverings, etc., etc. We did seven loads on Sunday and I haven't even touched what's still in storage bins.

I managed one class the entire time, which was very informative and gave me some ideas on how to do some quick tunics for both me and Gunthar. The knotted beading class I really wanted to take didn't materialize because the instructor never showed, but I did happen upon the tail end of the "Weed Walk" because it ended right in front of our tent one morning. I did get to see some friends, meet lots of Gunthar's friends from Atenveldt and An Tir, and hang out with Philip and Adam -- who are very bad influences on me as far as guy watching goes. And I got some shopping in as well. I can't wait to start stringing the pearls I picked up.

Poor Gunthar finally got out of his funk the day before we left. We probably could have stayed until Saturday but, in the words of Uncle Shawn, I wanted to leave while I still loved Pennsic.
