Crown Tournament and Other Things
Apr. 11th, 2007 10:40 amBy now, those close to us have probably read
count_gunthar's take on Ansteorra's recent Crown Tournament, so I won't go much into the actual tournament, other than to say that Gunthar fought well and honorably. And tho' he'll agree reluctantly, he did manage to have fun until the final round. As for me, part of me is sort of relieved that he didn't win because the logistics of having a king and queen living four hours apart would be a nightmare and coordinating it with my new duties would be really, really tough; and part of me is sad because this was the last time he fought for Sara and everyone wanted to see them both on the throne again. And it was so freakin' cold that I never thought I would be warm again...
The party in our hotel room afterwards was a lot of fun and I enjoyed spending time with our pseudo-family from Bryn Gwylad (thanks for the cranberry vodka, Gwyneth!) and getting to know the Baron and Baroness of Bonwicke and their friends. There are still some residual disturbing images of some of Modius' antics and Gunthar's Marilyn Monroe-inspired rendition of "Happy Birthday" to deal with, but I had fun.
As was announced at Crown Tournament's closing court,
lady_katheryn is the incipient Baroness of the Steppes! I am certain that she will do a good job and keep the best interests of the barony at heart, and I am deeply honored that she has asked me to be head of her entourage (see reference to new duties above) with
fieryredhead as my second. Now we are in a frenzy of activity trying to assemble the entourage and prepare for her investiture at Steppes Warlord in May. Oi!
So much to do, so much to learn, and so little time...
